Having filled all the wall space in the house with photographs and my partners art I decided that I needed to fill every surface with sculptural items. My partner already does some amazing ceramics so, back to my roots, I developed my working with wood theme and took up wood turning. I thought photography was addictive but this is on another scale.
So I now have several (many) items of wood art for sale. Each item is made from local wood either recycled from fallen trees in the local woods or donated from friends. I hope to develop an online shop later but I present here some selected items. If you want more detailed images I have small videos of each available. Get in touch through the contacts page and I will forward the videos.

This bowl was from Rowan (Mountain Ash), the tree removed from a neighbours garden in late August this year. The tree had become unstable and was close to buildings. Removed by local tree surgeon I asked the owners for a log to turn for them as a memory of this old tree. In total I made four bowls, cut from the wood when it was still green. This bowl was the most decorative. It has dried into an oval approximately 21cm (8in) at its widest and 9cm (3.6in) tall. Weight is just under 400g. Ref: 5689

A challenge set by another local woodturner, Steve gave me an off-cut from an Alder branch. I sensed something special as I started cutting this gnarly lump of wood and was particular pleased as the project came together by removing the tenon to give a concave base showing of the random graining of the wood. Finished with pure Tung oil.
